California, here we come! With tours headed for the Golden State, we’re excited to share a few of our favorite things with our travelers. Read on to discover a bit of what we love most about a trip to California, from standing beside giant sequoias to seeing the stars over Los Angeles.

5 must-sees in California

1

San Francisco’s Mission District

San Francisco’s oldest neighborhood, the Mission District, is defined by its vibrant art and cultural scene. Catch a unique film at The Roxie, the city’s historic art house theater, marvel at the colorful murals throughout the neighborhood and admire Mission Dolores, San Francisco’s longest-standing building. The Mission is also famous for its restaurants and bars—make sure to stop in a taquerìa for a taste of traditional Mexican fare.

2

Monterey’s 17-Mile Drive

Crossing through Pebble Beach and Pacific Grove, Monterey’s 17-Mile Drive follows along the coast, passing grand estates, beautiful beaches, and famous golf courses. This former carriage road-turned-scenic-highway is one of America’s most iconic drives. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can experience some (or all!) of it by bike.

3

Yosemite’s Giant Sequoias

It’s hard to wrap your head around how big Yosemite’s giant sequoia trees are, until you try to wrap your arms around one. There’s a short hike to reach the park’s most popular groves (about 2-3 miles) but if you’re able, it’s worth the trek. They’re beautiful, and just standing beside these enormous trees is breathtaking—some giant sequoias are among the oldest living things on earth.

4

Griffith Park

An escape from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood, Griffith Park, at 4,000-plus acres, is one of the largest urban parks in North America. From hiking and horseback riding to golf, swimming, tennis and more, there’s plenty of outdoor adventures to enjoy. Walk the park’s trails to get unique views of the Hollywood sign, head to Griffith Observatory to see the (actual) stars through a telescope or enjoy a ride on the historic Griffith Merry-Go-Round.**

5

Coronado Island Beaches

Some of the best beaches in the U.S. are located along the shores of Coronado Island, just outside of San Diego. The town’s main beach features plenty of sparkling sand, making it perfect for soaking up the sun or taking an oceanside stroll. After a day at the shore, hit Orange Avenue, Coranado’s main commercial street, to explore the charming shops and galleries.
